Rural Stays: The Standard You've Been Waiting For
Eleven years ago, Stephanie Flint picked up a mop and a set of keys and started cleaning one luxury property, alone. Today, she runs a portfolio of 60+ properties worth over £30 million — country estates, wedding venues, hotels — and she's not done raising the bar.
This isn't a story about growth for growth's sake. It's about what happens when someone refuses to accept "good enough." When COVID-19 shut the industry down overnight, Stephanie didn't fold — she rebuilt, learning from industry heavyweights Joseph Valente and Alfie Best, and came back sharper, stronger, and hungrier to change what "standard" meant in short-term rental housekeeping.
That hunger has taken her a long way. Multiple industry awards. A spot on Truvi's Top 50 Influential People to Watch — their "Truvisionaries" list. Stages at Short Stay Summit, Scale UK, the Great British Cleaning Summit, and Host Planet, where she launched her own podcast series, Spotless Stays with Host Planet. This October, Rural Stays is proud to sponsor the icebreaker event ahead of VRMA 26 Nashville — in collaboration with Mark Simpson, founder of Boostly and one of the most recognised voices in the short-term rental industry.
But here's the thing: Stephanie doesn't clean anymore. She builds people who do it better than anyone else. As owner-operator of Rural Stays, she now spends her time consulting with short-term rental owners across the industry — helping them build elite cleaning teams and holiday rental businesses that actually perform.
Because Stephanie isn't just running a company. She's a thought leader. A disruptor. Someone on a mission to drag an entire industry up to the standard it should have had all along.
Her message to cleaners entering this space is simple: know your worth. Professionalism isn't optional — it's the price of entry. If you're not delivering excellence, there isn't a place for you in short-term rental housekeeping. That's not harsh. That's the standard.
And it's a family mission. From day one, Stephanie's family has been by her side — today, two of her daughters work directly in the business, carrying the same standard forward.
The bigger goal? An accreditation scheme for short-term rental cleaning and maintenance — one that turns Stephanie's standard into the industry's standard, so every guest, everywhere, gets the experience they deserve.
This is Rural Stays. Built on ten years of proof. Led by someone who's done the work.
